GREAT RIVERS GREENWAY
DISTRICT |
The Great Rivers Greenway District was
established in November 2000 by the successful passage of the Clean
Water, Safe Parks and Community Trails Initiative ("Proposition C")
in St. Louis City, St. Louis County and St. Charles County,
Missouri. Great Rivers Greenway is funded by a 1/10th of 1 cent
sales tax.
Great Rivers Greenway works for a clean, green, connected St. Louis
region. To deliver its mission, Great Rivers Greenway is
spearheading the development of The River Ring, an interconnected system of
greenways, parks and trails that will encircle the St. Louis
region, enhancing the quality of life for residents and
visitors. |

MADISON COUNTY TRANSIT - Madison County,
Illinois |
In the early 1990's, MCT initiated its "rails to trails" program
with the goal of preserving urban rail corridors for future light
rail possibilities and interim trail use. Today, that program has
converted over 85 miles of rail corridors into user-friendly
bikeways and walking trails. |

GORC (Gateway Off-Road
Cyclists) |
Founded in 1998 by St. Charles area mountain bikers to help
facilitate design and construction of a bicycle/hiking trail in a
new County Park, the club has grown to include the entire St. Louis
metropolitan area in both Missouri and Illinois.

ST. PETERS BMX GATEWAY - St. Peters, Missouri |

St. Peters BMX Gateway is the local BMX racetrack in St. Louis. The track is ABA certified and holds racing events twice weekly. |
